IITTALA Vide Poche home display collection Kuru by designer Philippe Malouin

Finnish design brand Iittala recently introduced some new collection items of which the Kuru collection is one.
Kuru means “cliff” in Finnish and refers to a quiet and natural environment, where you can unwind and relax. Designer Philippe Malouin created a graphic, minimal, strong object where you can place your small daily items in, when arriving home. A Vide Poche as the French call it.
Now, when spring and summer almost arrive, we feel the need to tidy up and organize things. Declutter and only keep the things that spark joy, as Marie Kondo learns us.
These beautiful minimal designs are definitely contributing to that need. The subdued items bring harmony into your home and have an archetype form that speak naturally to you.
Timeless objects that will remain with you for years and years.
The serie contains a vase in matt glass, 3 different sized bowls in ceramics, and a bowl in glass. The natural colors are a moss green, Sevilla orange, which to me looks like a beautiful sunset, light grey, beige anda translucent glass.
Which of these ones speak to you most? For me the moss green ceramic bowl and dark grey glass bowl….
IITTALA Vide Poche home display collectie Kuru van designer Philippe Malouin
Het Finse designmerk Iittala heeft onlangs enkele nieuwe collectie-items geïntroduceerd, waarvan de Kuru-collectie er één is.
Kuru betekent “klif” in het Fins en verwijst naar een rustige en natuurlijke omgeving, waar je kunt ontspannen. Designer Philippe Malouin creëerde een grafisch, minimalistisch sterk object waar je je kleine dagelijkse items in kunt plaatsen bij thuiskomst. Een vide-poche zoals de Fransen het noemen.
Nu de lente en zomer er aan komen, voelen we de behoefte om dingen op te ruimen en te organiseren. Behoud alleen de dingen die vreugde brengen, zoals Marie Kondo ons leert.
Deze prachtige minimale ontwerpen dragen zeker bij aan die behoefte. De ingetogen items brengen harmonie in je huis en hebben een archetype-vorm die op een natuurlijke wijze tot je spreekt.
Tijdloze objecten die jarenlang bij je zullen blijven.
De serie bevat een vaas in mat glas, 3 kommen in verschillende afmetingen in keramiek en een kom in glas. De natuurlijke kleuren zijn mosgroen, Sevilla-oranje, wat op een prachtige zonsondergang lijkt, een lichtgrijs, beige en een matt glas.
Welke spreekt jou het meest aan? Voor mij zijn dat de mosgroene keramische kom en de donkergrijze glazen kom….
Last week I was at the opening of the new Dutch Piet Boon and Salvatori bathroom showroom and flagship store.
Salvatori is an Italian Design brand and one of the leading design companies specialized in natural stone. When I’m in Milan for the Milan design week, I always make a stop at their showroom. It’s full of beautiful bathroom designs and a candy store for material lovers!
And I think it’s no secret that I’m a fan of the interior designs and styling of Piet Boon Studio.
So, Salvatori and Piet Boon creating this new inspiration showroom and flagships store in the Netherlands is making me very happy!
When entering the 500 square meters showroom I was just in awe. Not only the bathtubs, faucets, showers and sinks are beautifully designed, also the whole space is wonderfully created.
Colors, materials, design, everything fits together and give a good impression of what both Piet Boon design studio and Salvatori are capable of. This is really next level.

Piet Boon |Salvatori | nieuwe badkamer showroom in Nederland
Vorige week was ik bij de opening van de nieuwe Piet Boon Studio en Salvatori badkamer showroom en flagship store.
Salvatori is een Italiaans designmerk en een van de meest toonaangevende bedrijven gespecialiseerd in natuursteen. Wanneer ik in Milaan ben voor de Milan Design Week, ga ik ook altijd even naar de Salvatori showroom voor de prachtige badkamerontwerpen. Een snoepwinkel voor materiaalliefhebbers!
En ik denk dat het geen geheim is dat ik een fan ben van de interieurontwerpen en styling van Piet Boon Studio.
Dus de Salvatori en Piet Boon’s nieuwe inspiratie showroom en flagships store in Nederland maken mij heel blij!
Toen ik de500 vierkante meter grote showroom binnenging, was ik gewoonweg onder de indruk. Niet alleen de baden, kranen, douches en wastafels zijn prachtig ontworpen, ook de hele ruimte is prachtig gecreëerd.
Kleuren, materialen, design, alles past bij elkaar en geeft een goede indruk van waar zowel Piet Boon ontwerp studio als Salvatori toe in staat zijn. Dit is echt “next Level”
Zoals Piet Boon studio zegt …
Al meer dan dertig jaar is de badkamer een belangrijk onderdeel van het interieur ontworpen door Studio Piet Boon. Met het tempo van het dagelijks leven heeft de badkamer een steeds belangrijkere functie als een toevluchtsoord waar tijd niet langer een factor is. In overeenstemming met de ontwerpfilosofie van de studio en de passie voor rijke natuurlijke materialen, vakmanschap, innovatieve structuren en kleurencombinaties, komt deze visie tot leven in de nieuwe showroom van Piet Boon Bathroom. Hier komen rustgevende toon-op-toon kleuren verkregen met luxueuze materialen overeen met het eigentijdse ontwerp van de ruimte waar gelaagde combinaties van texturen en accessoires centraal staan.
Dus als je je op een nieuwe badkamer oriënteert, moet je eigenlijk wel echt ook Piet Boon bezoeken. En naast de badkamer kun je ook de interieur- en meubelshowroom en de keukenshowroom bezoeken. Ze zijn in hetzelfde gebouw.

From 13 until 19 januari, the first big interior design fair of this year took place: IMM Cologne 2020. Always a great way to start the new year: getting lots of inspiration, catching up with colleagues and meeting new people.
Vlinder Sofa
One of the first exhibition stands I stepped into was Vitra. New items, like the Vlinder Sofa, which means butterfly in Dutch, in a nice pink and a green color combination and designed by Hella Jongerius are shown in a homy settings. The Vlinder Sofa was originally introduced in 2019 Milan.
New accessories
Vitra also launched the new summer 2020 home accessories series called “Sea Things”, new cork bowls and updated the Cork Family. Besides all that, the L’Oiseau bird by Bouroullec and LTR table are now available in a limited edition in Carrara marble. I can tell you one thing: The whole cork and marble collection are definitely on my wishlist!
New Color
Also, new colors were introduced in Milan 2019 for the Eames Plastic Chairs, and now at IMM 2020 Vitra added the white powder coating to the color selection of the base. Love it!
Styling
As always Vitra styled everything beautifully. I keep loving the fact that they are exceptionally well in creating a personal, authentic feeling with the designs they have in collection. Year after year.

Van 13 tot 19 januari vond de eerste grote design en interieurbeurs van dit jaar plaats: IMM Keulen 2020. Altijd een toffe manier om het nieuwe jaar te beginnen: veel inspiratie opdoen, met collega’s bijpraten en nieuwe mensen ontmoeten.
Vlinder Sofa
Een van de eerste beursstands waar ik binnen liep was die van Vitra. Nieuwe items, zoals de Vlinder Sofa, in een mooie roze en een groene kleurencombinatie en ontworpen door Hella Jongerius, worden getoond in een sfeervolle omgeving. De Vlinder Sofa is oorspronkelijk geïntroduceerd in 2019 in Milaan.
Nieuwe interieur accessoires
Vitra lanceerde ook de nieuwe serie accessoires voor zomer 2020 met de naam “Sea Things”, een aantal nieuwe kurkkommen en vernieuwde de Cork Family. Bovendien zijn de L’Oiseau-vogel van Bouroullec en de LTR-tafel nu verkrijgbaar in een beperkte oplage in Carrara-marmer. Ik kan je één ding vertellen: de hele kurk en marmer collectie staat absoluut op mijn verlanglijstje!
Kleur
Ook werden in Milaan 2019 nieuwe kleuren geïntroduceerd voor de Eames Plastic Chairs, en nu heeft Vitra tijdens bij IMM 2020 een witte poedercoating toegevoegd aan de kleurselectie van de basis. Love it!
Styling
Zoals altijd heeft Vitra alles mooi vormgegeven en gestyled. Ik hou van het feit dat ze uitzonderlijk goed zijn in het creëren van een persoonlijk en authentiek gevoel met de ontwerpen die ze in de collectie hebben. Jaar na jaar.

WOW! what a transformation Dutch Design Brand Studio Henk made this last year. They started out as a small furniture design studio in Amsterdam. The two brothers, Okke and Xander, felt a personal need for design furniture that was beautiful but also practical.
The first item was a dining table that can be customized to fit both your interior and lifestyle. From there, they designed more furniture items and their collection grew. Because of the customizing options and appealing prices, the collection was a success from the beginning.
I’m so happy and proud that we sold Studio Henk tables and furniture right from their early start in our former C-More Concept Store in Nijmegen the Netherlands, where we gave young designers and brands a platform to sell and show their furniture and designs.
Now, a few years later, Studio Henk blew me away at the IMM Cologne 2020 fair, with their newly developed designs. What a transformation! I love the refined lines, colors, and materials of the new furniture items, and I’m actually in love with their new table and cabinet! I shot some pictures with my iPhone to give you an impression.

Nieuwe meubel designs

WOW!
Wat een transformatie heeft Dutch Design Brand Studio Henk afgelopen jaar door gemaakt. Ze begonnen als een kleine meubelontwerpstudio in Amsterdam. De twee broers, Okke en Xander, voelden een persoonlijke behoefte aan designmeubels die mooi maar ook praktisch waren.
Het eerste item was een eettafel die kan worden aangepast aan jouw interieur en stijl. Van daaruit ontwierpen ze meer meubels en groeide hun collectie. Vanwege de persoonlijke aangepassingen en de aantrekkelijke prijzen was de collectie vanaf het begin een succes.
Ik ben zo blij en trots dat we Studio Henk’s tafels en meubels vanaf het begin in onze voormalig C-More Concept Store in Nijmegen, waar we jonge ontwerpers en merken een platform gaven om hun meubels te verkopen en te tonen en ontwerpen hebben verkocht! DeConcept Store is gesloten, maar ik pas de meibelen van Studio Henk met grote regemlaat toe in mijn interieur ontwerpen.
Nu, een paar jaar later, kon ik alleen maar WOW roepen toen ik de Studio Henk stand tijdens de IMM cologne 2020 beurs op liep en hun nieuwe ontwerpen zag. Wat een transformatie! Ik ben fan van de verfijnde lijnen, kleuren en materialen van de nieuwe meubels en ben eigenlijk gelijk verliefd geworden op hun nieuwe tafel en kast! Ik heb wat foto’s gemaakt op de beurs (met mijn iPhone) om je een indruk te geven.
