A while ago I moved my blog from Blogger to WordPress. And since I’m blogging from 2007, there are a lot of blogposts to check… So if you see a blogpost that’s missing photo’s or has a weird layout, please let me know by leaving a comment at that particular blogpost. In the meantime I’m walking through all my posts myself too.

Today Flexa | AkzoNobel revealed the new 2017 Interior trend color by Colour Futures: Denim Drift. Social and trend research showed that we want to celebrate the “simple things” in life.
Heleen van Gent, Colour Expert at Flexa, described it as follows: “As the world around you changes constantly, you see the ‘normal’ things in life, such as family, friends and work, with new eyes.
In addition, the return to nature and the sheer enjoyment of experiencing the “now” is much more important.” This results in the theme ‘LIFE IN A NEW LIGHT “, a new outlook on life.
Color of the Year 2017 “DENIM DRIFT” is a pleasant, timeless, versatile gray blue, that depending on how you apply it, always looks different. Blue, used in various proportions and a variety of light and dark shades can change the atmosphere in a room can completely.
By combining Denim Drift with a few lighter variants, the result is fresh and airy. In a darker version it creates a dramatic atmosphere. Thus, there are numerous ways to apply the color denim drift.
“Life in a New Light” is the overall trend, but there are four underlying themes with matching color palettes:

Heleen van Gent, Colour Expert Flexa beschrijft het als volgt: “Als de wereld om je heen voortdured verandert, zie je de ‘normale’ dingen in het leven, zoals familie, vrienden en werk, met nieuwe ogen. Daarnaast is de terugkeer naar de natuur en het pure genot van het “in het nu zijn” veel belangrijker. Dit resulteert in het thema “LEVEN IN EEN NIEUW LICHT”, een nieuwe kijk op het leven.
Kleur van het Jaar 2017 “DENIM DRIFT” is een aangenaam, tijdloos, veelzijdig grijs blauw dat, afhankelijk van hoe je het toepast, er altijd anders uit ziet. Blauw, gebruikt in verschillende verhoudingen en verscheidene lichte en donkere kleuren, kan de sfeer in een kamer volledig veranderen.
Door het combineren van Denim Drift met een paar lichtere varianten, wordt het resultaat fris en luchtig; in een donkere versie creëert het een dramatische sfeer. Zo zijn er verschillende manieren om de blauwe kleur Denim Drift toe te passen.

A day spent in a very wet cornfield for the Ikea catalogue 2016-17 is a day well spent!
Every august you know it’s coming: The new Ikea magazine. This time Ikea Netherlands organized a big launch in the middle of a cornfield, to present the newest items, and to announce some collaborations for the upcoming year, like with Dutch Designer Piet Hein Eek, Hay and Tom Dixon [ Yay!!!] Piet Hein Eek will be working on two collections: the JASSA and INDUSTRIELL collection.
Although it was raining cats and dogs, I loved the way Ikea presented itself. I can easily imagine how wonderful it would have looked, if the sun was shining that day.
In a big cornfield, Ikea made a pentagon shaped path which stands for the 5 principles they stand for: Form – Function – Quality – Sustainable and Affordable design.
The center of this pentagon was an open tent where we were served a delicious lunch. Ikea is making the food they serve in the restaurants more healthy and we got some very nice and good tasting salads and the pulled salmon sandwich for lunch.
After lunch, I walked the 5 paths and there were different stages with the new furniture, textiles and accessories. Along the way, I spotted sets of wooden boxes on high legs, with smaller objects and styling elements. Loved it!
Amongst the new designs are: the design kitchens, the funky SÄLLSKAP collection and the SLADDA bike. And of course the IKEA PS 2017 collection, with the Dutch-based,Eindhoven’s design duo Truly Truly. More info about the special collections you can find at IKEA.today.
The new collections will be revealed during the year, but some of them are already available in the stores as of now. Below a selection of my favorite items.
Een dag doorgebracht in een zeer nat korenveld voor de IKEA catalogus 2016 2017 launch, is een dag goed besteed!
Elk jaar in augustus je weet dat “ie” er aan komt: de nieuwe Ikea gids. Deze keer organiseerde Ikea Nederland de lancering groots, midden in een maïsveld. De nieuwste items werden gepresenteerd en een aantal samenwerkingen met designers voor het komende jaar, werden aangekondigd. Zoals met ontwerper Piet Hein Eek, het skandinavische merkt Hay en designer Tom Dixon. [ jippie !!!] Piet Hein Eek gaat werken aan twee collecties: de Jassa en Indusriell collectie.
Hoewel het weer niet echt mee werkte, het regende pijpenstelen, vond ik de gekozen presentatie echt heel mooi en verrassend. Stel je toch voor als de zon wel had geschenen, dan zou het er nog mooier zijn geweest…..
In een groot maïsveld maakte Ikea een vijfhoekig pad, dat staat voor de 5 principes waar zij voor staan: Vorm – Functie – Kwaliteit – Duurzaam en Betaalbaar design.
Het centrum van deze vijfhoek was een open tent waar we een heerlijke lunch geserveerd kregen. Ikea is het eten dat ze serveren in de restaurants aan het verbeteren naar meer gezonde maaltijden. We kregen een aantal mooie en lekkere salades en de nieuw “pulled salmon sandwich” voorgeschoteld.
Na de lunch liep ik de 5 paden door. Op diverse punten waren units met de nieuwe collectie meubels, textiel en accessoires. Langs de paden stonden een aantal sets houten boxen op hoge poten, met kleinere objecten en styling elementen er in. Mooie presentatie en mooie accessoires!
Onder de nieuwe items zijn oa de nieuwe design keukens, de funky SÄLLSKAP collectie en de SLADDA fiets. En natuurlijk de IKEA PS 2017 collectie, met het in Eindhoven gesettelde ontwerp duo Truly Truly. Meer info over deze special collecties kun je vinden op IKEA.today .
De nieuwe collecties zullen in de loop van het jaar worden onthuld. Sommige zijn zelfs nu al verkijgbaar in de winkels. Hierboven een selectie van mijn favorite items.

It’s the middle of August…. Can you believe it? Summer is almost over and I’ve got the feeling it didn’t even start yet. I don’t know how it is with you, but here in The Netherlands, we’ve had a very wet summer so far. I’m hoping for a nice “Indian Summer” in September, to make it up a bit…
In the meantime, when the weather is not tempting to go outside, it’s the perfect time to prep your home for fall and winter. My secret is to add lots of texture to your home. When it’s getting colder, texture adds warmth to your home and gives you comfort. Also, it keeps you in touch with nature, which is good for us.
A while ago I got this little and cute book “Texture” by Ryland Peters & Small publishers, and I’ve picked it up for inspiration many times. The book walks you through many different ways and styles. 4 Materials are run through. Wood, linen, stone and wool. For me basic essentials for the home. And yes, also for a contemporary or minimal interior.
Of course, the book shows many different styles to inspire, so that there is something for everyone. Besides the beautiful pictures, there are many many tips how to apply texture to your home and outdoor. This little book is one to stay!

Het is midden augustus …. Kun jij het geloven? De zomer is bijna voorbij en ik heb het gevoel dat het nog niet eens is begonnen. Ik weet niet hoe het daar is, maar hier in Nederland hebben we een zeer natte zomer tot nu toe. Ik hoop nog stiekem op een mooie “Indian Summer” in september, om het nog een beetje goed te maken.
In de tussentijd, wanneer het weer niet echt zo verleidelijk is om naar buiten te gaan, is het de perfecte tijd om je huis vast voor de herfst en winter voor te bereiden. Mijn geheim is om veel textuur toe te voegen aan je interieur. Als het kouder wordt voegt textuur warmte aan je huis en geeft je comfort. Ook houdt dat je in contact met de natuur en dat is goed voor ons.
Een tijdje geleden kreeg ik dit kleine en leuke boek “Textuur” van Ryland Peters & Small uitgevers. Ik heb het al diverse keren opgepakt voor inspiratie. Het boek leidt je door vele verschillende toepassingen en stijlen. 4 Materialen worden besproken. Hout, linnen, steen en wol. Voor mij essentiele elementen voor in huis. En ja, ook voor in een eigentijds of minimalistisch interieur.
Het boekje laat verschillende inspirerende stijlen zien, zodat er voor ieder wat wils is. Naast de prachtige foto’s staan er vele tips beschreven hoe textuur toe te passen in je huis en ook buiten. Dit boekje is er een die blijft!

Behind the scenes at Moooi Milan Designweek 2016 by C-More
A few weeks after The Milan designweek 2016 it’s easier to see what was most impressive. The Moooi collection 2016 presentation was one of them.
At the via Savona 56 , Moooi transformed the space into a surprising and creative area. In the atrium, the furniture was installed in the dark with just spotlights on them. Like the Compression Sofa made out of marble by Paul Cocksedge. Or the Charleston Sofa, which looks like a Chesterfield sofa placed on the side. I loved the Floor lamp Filigree by Rick Tegelaar. Also the Anami Sofa by Lorenza Bozzoli, which was made out of beautiful deep blue velvet with degrade fringes. This sofa looks so tempting… If it wasn’t in the spotlights I think I could sit in it the whole day and just relax…
About the Marble Compression sofa:
‘I wasn’t thinking of designing a sofa,’ affirms Paul Cocksedge when talking about the Compression sofa. ‘I had a block of rectangular foam on my desk and I just pushed down one part and saw, almost in slow motion, this transformation, from an angular block to a curvaceous figure and thought, “it would be great if a person could sit there”. There were no sketches or technical drawings involved, instead we allowed the material itself to define the shape.’.
Behind the scenes, You could wander around several rooms, all with the new signature rugs and carpetings. Lot’s of colorful and artistic , ornaments and surreal designs. I can imagine some of you have to get used to this eye-catching floors, but I must say, It can make the room! Personally, I would love to combine these rugs with a more clean and empty space. But hey, that’s me. We all know that Moooi is about the theatrical design.
All the rooms were decorated as someone lived in it. This way you got an intimate warm and even a somewhat feminine feeling and a sense of home.
A lot of the designs were soft, and round shaped, with textured upholsteries like velvet and felt. Of course, the lighting objects were stunning, as Moooi always does. And the big oversized prints by photographer Rebecca Bathory were completing the setting.

MILAN 2016
Een paar weken na de Milan Designweek 2016 is het makkelijker om te zien wat het meest indrukwekkend was. De Moooi collectie 2016 presentatie was er een van.
Aan de via Savona 56, transformeerde Moooi de ruimte in een verrassende en creatieve omgeving. In het atrium, was het meubilair in het donker geïnstalleerd, met slechts de schijnwerpers op hen gericht. Zoals de Compression Sofa, gemaakt van marmer door ontwerper Paul Cocksedge. Of de Charleston Bank, die eruit ziet als een Chesterfield bank op zijn zij. En Prachtig, die vloerlamp Filigree ontworpen door Rick Tegelaar. Ook de Anami Sofa van Lorenza Bozzoli was bijzonder mooi, met het diepe blauw fluweel en met degrade franjes. Deze bank ziet er zo verleidelijk uit … Als ie niet in de spotlights stond, was ik er graag de hele dag op gaan zitten om gewoon even relaxen in drukke Milaan …
Over de Marble Compression bank:
‘Ik dacht niet aan het ontwerpen van een bank,’ bevestigt Paul Cocksedge wanneer we spreken over de compressie bank. ‘Ik had een blok van rechthoekige schuim op mijn bureau en die heb ik gewoon naar beneden geduwd, en zag, bijna in slow motion, deze transformatie, van een hoekige blok naar een gewelfde figuur en dacht: “Het zou geweldig zijn als er een persoon in kan zitten”. Er waren geen schetsen of technische tekeningen bij betrokken,maar we lieten het materiaal zelf de vorm definiëren. ‘.
Achter de schermen, kon je rond wandelen door verschillende kamers, allemaal met de nieuwe “Signature” tapijten en carpetings. Veel kleurrijke, artistieke, vol ornamenten en surrealistische ontwerpen. Ik kan me voorstellen dat sommigen van jullie even moeten wennen aan deze opvallende vloeren, maar ik moet zeggen, het kan de ruimte echt maken! Persoonlijk zou ik graag deze tapijten combineren met een strakke en lege ruimte. Maar hey, dat ben ik. We weten allemaal dat Moooi van de theatrale designs is.
Alle kamers zijn ingericht alsof er iemand woont. Op deze manier heeft de ruimte direct een intiem, warm en zelfs een ietwat vrouwelijk gevoel. En een gevoel van thuis.
Een groot deel van de ontwerpen waren zacht, met ronde vormen, met rijke bekledingen zoals fluweel en vilt. Natuurlijk, de verlichting ontwerpen waren prachtig, zoals Moooi dat altijd doet. En de grote oversized prints van fotograaf Rebecca Bathory waren de puntjes op de i van de setting.
