A while ago I moved my blog from Blogger to WordPress. And since I’m blogging from 2007, there are a lot of blogposts to check… So if you see a blogpost that’s missing photo’s or has a weird layout, please let me know by leaving a comment at that particular blogpost. In de tussentijd loop ik al mijn berichten zelf ook nog na.

I didn’t know what to expect when I entered the 4* Design Hotel INK in Amsterdam for a tested-and-tried review. It looked like a small hotel in the middle of the center of Amsterdam, but it turned out to be a big gem, with perfect hideaways, lounge spots and a lovely outdoor space. I was welcomed in the hall by a very friendly staff, dressed in Gstar Ink blue aprons. The entry is filled with giant old-school press letters on the wall. This links back to the history of the hotel building, where in 1904 Dutch newspaper “De Tijd” was established.
JEE-O a brand who designs minimalistic baths, sinks and showers for a luxurious and relaxing spa feeling, appears to be stationed just around the corner of my hometown. So I headed over to meet up with concept and product designer and founder of JEE-O Lammert Moerman, to get a look at te collection and the headquarter office.
JEE-O is on the top the list of my favourite bathroom designs. I love the smooth lines and the soft material, which is a combination of quartz rock and resin named DADOquartz. That makes the solid surface. The freestanding baths are just a gem to the eye and the basins are just as beautiful.
But what I also like so much about the JEE-O series are more sturdy, bold and masculine showers and faucets. Made out of stainless steel, they also have this minimal design. With the “JEE-O 365 all weather frost free” application, some designs are suitable for outdoor use.
While talking to Lammert, we came to speak about Manna, the award-winning Design Hotel that is located in the center of my hometown Nijmegen NL. I visit Manna often for dinner or lunch or a meeting with my clients for an interior design. It is a beautiful hotel and I’m not surprised they won the Luxury Hotel Awards for Best Europe Hotel Restaurant.
During the opening of Design hotel Manna, a few years back, I got a sneak peek at the hotel rooms and then also spotted the JEE-O baths in the rooms.
Although Manna is on my list for a sleepover, I didn’t stay there yet… It’s just a 5-minute walk from my own home. But happily I took the chance to hop over and take some pictures of the JEE-O bathrooms in the hotel studio’s and suites. They were even more beautiful then I remembered… Nice surprise to see the HAY styling items there.
While I’m making plans to renovate my own bathroom [ And yes, I definitely have JEE-O on my wishlist,] I’m sharing the JEE-O designs at Manna with you.

JEE-O, een merk dat minimalistische baden, wastafels en douches voor een luxe en ontspannen spa gevoel ontwerpt, blijkt vlak in de buurt van mijn woonplaatste zijn gevestigd. Dus ik ging op weg naar het hoofdkantoor om met concept en product designer en oprichter van JEE-O Lammert Moerman af te spreken en de collectie te bekijken.
JEE-O staat aan top van mijn lijst met favoriete badkamer designs. De vloeiende lijnen en het zachte materiaal, dat een combinatie van kwarts rock en hars genaamd DADOquartz is, spreken mij enorm aan. De vrijstaande baden zijn een juweeltje voor het oog en de bassins zijn al net zo mooi.
Maar wat ik mooi vind aan de JEE-O-serie zijn stoere, douches en kranen. Gemaakt van roestvrij staal, hebben toch ze ook dat minimalistische design. Met de “JEE-O 365 all weather vorstvrij” applicatie, zijn sommige ontwerpen zelfs geschikt voor gebruik buitenshuis.
Terwijl ik aan de praat raak met Lammert, komen we op Manna, het bekroonde Design Hotel, dat in het centrum van mijn woonplaats Nijmegen ligt. Ik bezoek Manna regelmatig voor een diner, lunch of een ontmoeting met mijn klanten voor een interieuradvies. Het is een mooi hotel en ik ben niet verbaasd dat ze de Luxury Hotel Awards voor Beste Europeese Hotel Restaurant hebben gewonnen.

Ze waren nog mooier dan ik me herinnerde ….En leuk dat ze HAY meubels en accessoires hebben toegepast!
Terwijl ik plannen aan het maken ben om mijn eigen badkamer te gaan renoveren [ en ja, JEE-O staat zeker op mijn verlanglijstje! ] deel ik hier alvast de JEE-O designs bij Manna.

On my way to Milan design week 2015 last April, I stayed at the CitizenM design hotel at Schiphol airport Amsterdam. I had to jump on the plane very early and had a busy day ahead of me in Milan and this was a welcome start of my trip.
This design hotel is situated directly in front of the airport, a 2-minute walk, so I could leave as late as possible to catch my plane. One of the other reasons why I love this hotel is that the hotel lobby is such a nice place when traveling alone. I don’t like to be stuck at my hotel room and this place and the staff make me feel so relaxed and welcome.
The hotel lounge has lot of cosy corners where your can relax or watch some tv, read or chat with your travel mate. It is furnished with the beautiful design icons by Vitra. There’s lots to see too: in the open cupboards there are showcased the most exquisite, stylish home deco objects and accessories as an collection of curiosities. So no time to be bored.. If you like there are several Imac’s available to work on too. So, CitizenM and I did it again…. And I’m sure we will be doing it for al long time in the future too…
It’s located “almost next” to the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam for your cultural needs, which I really can recommend because since the renovation and new opening this museum is a real treat and has outstanding good exhibitions. Also very near to the PC Hoofdstraat, Leidsestraat and 9-Straatjes / De Jordaan, for all you shopping and the Vondelpark for your walk or run in the park…
For your wining and dining you don’t have to walk very far: Momo with it’s Pan-Asian cuisine and modern interior is the hotels restaurant and bar. Also breakfast is served here. You can enjoy the evening at Momo bar with a good cocktail or glass of wine.
But back to the Park Hotel…
The hotels I love the most are the ones with a good lounge.
When it feels just like a living room and where you feel free to sit down and relax.
Park Hotel has this nice space right at the entry of the hotel. The long couch with several seats at two sides of the see-through fireplace is very welcoming. Also the good filled bookcase invites you to grab an art book or novel and plop down and cuddle up in one of the Design Egg-chairs. It’s a nice place to stay with your travel mates but also very comfortable when you are traveling alone. That’s a big plus I think.
The rooms are contemporary furnished and the biggest plus are Jensen beds with plush pillow-toppers and XXL pillows and sparkling-white duvet covers and sheets,that provides a deep calming sleep. I so needed that!
After a relaxing and energising sleep we didn’t have to hurry up for checkout and enjoyed the outstanding and fresh made breakfast.

Mijn verblijf bij het Design HotelPark Hotel Amsterdam
Zo nu en dan moet ik even weg van alles om weer bij te tanken en wil dan graag een nacht doorbrengen in een fijn Design of een luxe hotel. Deze keer was ik in het Park Hotel Amsterdam.
Het ligt practisch naast het Rijksmuseum Amsterdam voor alle culturele behoeften, wat ik overigens serieus kan aanbevelen, want sinds de renovatie en de hernieuwde opening van dit museum, is een echte traktatie en heeft het hele goede tentoonstellingen. Park Hotel light ook heel dicht bij de PC Hoofdstraat, Leidsestraat en 9-Straatjes / De Jordaan, voor het broodnodige shoppen en vlak bij het Vondelpark voor een heerlijke wandeling of hardlopen in het park …
Voor je eten en drinken je hoeft niet ver te lopen: Momo met zijn Pan-Aziatische keuken en modern interieur, is het restaurant en tevens de bar van het hotel. Ook het ontbijt wordt hier geserveerd. Je kunt er s’avonds heerlijk genieten in de Momo bar met een goede cocktail of een glas wijn.
Maar terug naar het Park Hotel … De hotels zijn waar ik het meest van houd zijn degenen met een goede lounge. Waar het voelt als een woonkamer en waar je je vrij voelt om te gaan zitten en te ontspannen.
Park Hotel heeft deze mooie ruimte direct bij de ingang van het hotel. De lange bank met meerdere zitplekken aan de doorkijkhaard voelt zeer gastvrij. Ook de goed gevulde boekenkast nodigt uit om een kunst boek of een roman te pakken en neer te ploffen in een van de Design ” Egg chair ” stoelen. Het is een leuke plek om te verblijven met samen met je reisgenoten, maar ook erg comfortabel als je alleen reist. Dat is een groot pluspunt vind ik.
De kamers zijn modern ingericht en helemaal top zijn Jensen bedden met pluche topmatrasjes, XXL kussens en sprankelend witte dekbedovertrekken en lakens, die een diepe rustgevende slaap bieden. Ik had dat zo nodig!
Na een ontspannende en verkwikkende nachtrust hoefden we ons niet te haasten voor het uit checken en konden we relaxed aan het uitstekende en vers gemaakte ontbijt.
