Summertime

Hay Palissade outdoor furniture

Hay Palissade outdoor furniture

Finally, I’m sitting down. Boy did I work hard past six months. I’m not sure if you’ve noticed, but I’ve opened a brand new concept store in my hometown Nijmegen. It’s all about giving young and new designers a place to show their products and designs. If you like to know more about it, go over to C-More Concept Store.

It’s summertime and my favorite place to be is outdoors. My garden is my living room as long as the weather allows it. So design outdoor furniture and garden styling elements are items my eye always gets drawn to. But it’s not as easy as it seems to find the perfect outdoor elements.

You have to keep a lot of things in mind while choosing the right outdoor furniture. It has to be weatherproof since I’m living in the Netherlands, where it can be very hot in summer, but also very cold in winter time. I don’t have storage space, so for me, it has to stay out all year round.

It also needs to be functional and comfortable, since I’ll be working long hours at the table and using it for breakfast, lunch and dinner, but also for gathering together with friends and family.

For a relaxing spot I need a big lounge sofa where I can close my eyes for a quick power nap and for long summer nights with cocktails and gin-tonic.

I also like my garden to be natural, green and minimal. Is this all possible in one city garden? I think so!

I was blown away by the HAY, a Danish design brand, outdoor collection Palissade, presented at the Milan Design Week, Salone del mobile in 2016. In this collection I find most of my wishes come true. A table, chairs, a bench, lounge sofa all in one collection. Beautifully designed by the Bouroullec brothers in nice colors. It was nice to find this collection available at Flinders, A Dutch on and offline design store.

As an alternative, I like the Lloyd outdoor table and bench by Dutch brand Functionals and the French Fermob Luxembourg series.

For lighting, I totally fell in love with the Flos Ipnos outdoor floor lamp. This is pure minimalism at it’s finest. The outline rectangle form is open, but gives a pleasant and beautiful light.

If the days get shorter I always reach out for my never letting me down Fatboy Edison Petit table lamp, which I can take with me throughout the whole garden, since it’s portable and rechargeable. The Edison Petit lights up in 3 settings, and is a very nice light standing aside of my laptop when I’m working outdoors in the evening.

For styling my garden I’d like to keep it as simple as possible. A few side tables, some nice planters and lots of green plants, trees, grass and a few plants, that don’t need too much care. Ferm Living, Petite Friture, Menu have the perfect items to accomplish the minimal and relaxed feeling I’m looking for.

Only one thing is left on my wish list…

The Weltrevree hot tub: the Dutchtub. I have the perfect spot already in my mind…

All outdoor items mentioned in this post by Hay, Flos, Fermob, Functionals, Fatboy, Ferm living, Petite Friture, Weltevree and Menu, but also many many more are available at Flinders.

Enjoy!

This blog post is written in cooperation with Flinders, Dutch design online and offline store. All products in this post are handpicked by me and are my personal favorites. All pictures by the brands named and Flinders.

Buitenleven

Zomer

The Design week in Milan is always THE event of the year, where brands and designers show the newest new. So did Vitra. This year Vitra presented the newest items in big “boxes” where an interior setting was created. As always very inspiring!

Explicit choices are made in the color pallets, upholstery and floor covering that are used. Vitra always manages to create a welcome and home feeling. Even in a booth at a very big fair! My compliments for that.

This year the new items are the Grand Sofà by designer Antonio Citterio and the Softshell Side Chair by the brothers Bouroullec. Also a few new variants of the Mariposa Sofa by Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby and new version of the East River Chair by Hella Jongerius. Last bust not least Vitra adds two new fabrics.

As if that wasn’t enough, there are also some updates of design classics such as the Table Flavigny by Jean Prouvé and the Eames Coffee Table by famous designing partners Charles en Ray Eames.

Not mentioned in the list, but one of my favorite chairs in the collection is the coconut chair. I’m glad that Vitra is picking up this beautiful design more often in the presentations lately.

Overall I sensed a stylish feminine feeling in most of the settings, with colors in ton-sur-ton pallets. One of the boxes had a bit of an odd twist which I like very much.

It felt like a very personal mix with lot’s of unique pieces, but as always combined in a very beautiful “collage” way. Very Vitra! I wonder if you know which box I mean :-) And one box was a bit more manly classic style.

For more info go over to Vitra.

Enjoy!

Milan designweek 2017

Last bust not least introduceert Vitra twee nieuwe stoffen.

Geniet!

Diesel Living Pop-up Home | Milan design week 2017 | By C-More

Well… Milan was a blast! I enjoyed every minute of it. Especially this beautiful Diesel Living pop-up home, where I felt at home the minute I walked in.

After a few days of wandering through Milan, design and trend spotting with Desiree of Vosgesparis and Wendy of Beeldsteil [we shared an Airbnb in Zona Tortona…Such fun!! ] we arrived at the Diesel Living Pop-up home. All three of us loved it instantly.

The Diesel Living furniture is a special line by Diesel and Moroso. The two combine very well. Moroso always works with outstanding designers, and stick their head out, showing extraordinary pieces. They dare to do something different. Diesel does that too. Diesel’s style is very well represented by the Rock and Roll feeling, with dark colors, studs, leather and metal, that is used in the cabinets and chairs, but with a fashion feeling mixed within it. Bold, but stylish… My style :-)

The Lighting fixtures are by Diesel Living – Foscarini. Beautiful pieces! The accessories are by Diesel Living-Seletti and last bust not least the kitchen byDiesel Living – Scavolini. All not the worst brands don’t you think!

The used colors and materials are a combination of pink, green, blue, dark browns and black in leather, wood, velvet, cotton-linen combinations, which gives the apartment a rough edge with soft touch. See for your self…. Do you like the Diesel Living pop up home?

Enjoy!

Ps: Did you know that Ynske + I just opened our own C-More Concept Store at HonigComplex Nijmegen NL, where we sell interior design furniture and lifestyle designs directly from the designers we spot and select? We also create a ROOM | LOFT in the store, that we change every three months. Chech it out at C-More Concept Store. You are more than welcome to visit us live or online :-) We are also on Instagram + Facebook

Diesel Living

Pop-up Home

Milan design week 2017

Nou … Milan was weer geweldig!

Mijn stijl :-)

De verlichting is van Diesel Living – Foscarini. Mooie stukken!

BIG NEWS:

I’ve opened

C-More Concept Store | Room for Design

↓NL

C-More Concept Store | Room for Design | design interior lifestyle items directly from the designers and makers | Honigcomplex Nijmegen NL

C-More Concept Store | Room for Design | design interior lifestyle items directly from the designers and makers | Honigcomplex Nijmegen NL

Yes!  You read it well! I’ve opened my own C-More Concept Store | Room for Design. That’s why you haven’t heard from me this long… It took a bit more of my time than I thought.  But now me, and my partner in crime Ynske, have settled a bit [ to be honest: we still have a HUGE to do lust] I can pick up blogging where I left it. And I miss it!

I won’t be having as much time to present my own pictures but will blog about lots of brands and design and events I spot, sharing their wonderful pictures. So keep following me! First stop will be Milan Salone del Mobile. You can follow me here at my blog but also on C-More Interior Concepts Instagram for live updates from Milan and other design inspiration.

What is C-More Concept Store…

Wel I think you all know what a concept store is… So I don’t need to tell you about that. But there are some things different about our concept store. We are interior and design orientated. We have selected designers who make interior objects like tables, cabinets, beds, wall textile, chairs, and so on. Ynske and I created a LOFT | ROOM in our store where we present these items as if someone lives there. We make it very personal. This LOFT | ROOM we change a few times a year for a complete new setting, with lots of other designers and special brands.

C-More Concept Store | Room for Design | design interior lifestyle items directly from the designers and makers | Honigcomplex Nijmegen NL

C-More Concept Store | Room for Design | design interior lifestyle items directly from the designers and makers | Honigcomplex Nijmegen NL

Around this LOFT | ROOM we present smaller interior, design and lifestyle items. Also fashion, jewelry art objects and many many more inspiring and interesting items are presented.

The good thing is: It’a all sold directly from the designers. So if you buy one of the beautiful designs, the designers actually get paid for it. That’s such a good feeling for all of us! Ynske and I saw so many designers struggle to get a selling point for their beautiful items, that we HAD to open this store to give them a spot.

Since I have my interior design office for a white at this very creative and new hotspot: The Honigcomplex Nijmegen NL, it just was as if everything came together: This spot should be right here, where many of the designers and makers are based.  So we jumped in it and now we have openend C-More Concept Store!

The first reactions are overwhelming!

“It has an international and Berlin feeling”

“What a beautiful and of high level selection of designers”

“We love the open space: You can actually see the designs in it’s full glory”

” We enjoy the high level of Dutch Design gatherd and mixed with international design”

These are just some of the things we hear on a daily basis. It makes us so happy!

In the pictures, you can get a glimpse of what our store looks like and what items we have in store. As said, we will change the styling and look and feel of the STORE + LOFT |ROOM frequently. Best to keep update is to follow us on the special C-More Concept Store Instagram and Facebook page and on our C-More Concept Store site+blog

If you have any questions or want to buy one of the items, or want to join us as a designer?

You can contact us at : conceptstore [at] c-more.nl

We hope to meet you in our store. You are more than welcome!

Enjoy!

GROOT NIEUWS:

C-MORE CONCEPT STORE | ROOM FOR DESIGN

is geopend!

Ja!

Dus blijf me volgen! Eerste stop is Milaan Salone del Mobile.

Wat is C-More Concept Store …

Geniet!
