Timber Stripes | NLXL wallpaper by Piet Hein Eek

A few weeks ago, during the Dutch Design week, I was invited to a very nice dinner by NLXL at Piet Hein Eek for the launch of the new wallpaper Timber Stripes.

We all sat on a long table and ate the most delicious risotto cooked by Italian Paola Navone. She designed one of the NLXL wallpapers. [read more about that over here] and among the cozy crowd were a group of Dutch and international interior and design bloggers, design magazines and the one and only Rossana Orlandi of Milan’s most famous interior and design gallery. Piet Hein Eek and NLXL always present their novelties at the Milan design week at Rossana Orlandi and it’s a must see, when your are in Milan. I always seem to bump in to her when she is at the DDW…

During this very special and relaxed dinner, NLXL Rick and Piet Hein introduced us the new Timber Stripes wallpaper. The new collection is a natural follow up on the previous Piet Hein Eek NLXL Scrapwood collection.

“Timber Strips by Piet Hein Eek was inspired by travels to Japan where timber is used in many ways. The working title for this new collection was “Zen Wood”. And that’s just what it is.”

Piet Hein Eek: “This collection is more than ever inspired on the idea that our wallpapers should provide an artificial alternative for a wooden wall. In this case by using 3d timber strips. I am certain people will love the attention to detail which is the trademark of NLXL products. Like Scrapwood, Timber Strips make you want to touch the wall to make sure it isn’t the real thing.”

Rick Vintage: “It is a great honor to work with Piet Hein. After all these years of working closely together, we seem to know what the other is thinking. In this case we both think this new collection will become a big success!”

I can only say: It’s was a special evening and it is a beautiful wallpaper collection… I think it’s a really nice collection to add warmth in a minimal interior.

More info at NLXL.

Enjoy!

Nieuw behang

Timber Stripes | NLXL wallpaper

by Piet Hein Eek

String | Grid + Organizer

String | Grid + Organizer

When you work from home and are a creative person, well I think you can probably relate to my “problem”. How and where do you organize and store all your work and daily stuff.  I’ve tried several options but are not satisfied yet. I like to have things around me for inspiration.

So the String System and String Works are definitely options for me. What I like about String is that is a proven system. It’s designed by Nils Strinning in 1949 and the look and feel of it is still accurate, minimal and timeless.

What I also like is that you can use the system throughout the whole house or apartment. It’s suitable for your living room as shelving system a bookcase or home office, but also for kitchens and dining rooms.

Even the bathroom can have it’s own: The String Plex, with transparent Plexiglass panels. and the last new added items, the String Grid & Organizer are definitely beautiful and multifunctional.

STRING

The Design week in Milan is always THE event of the year, where brands and designers show the newest new. So did Vitra. This year Vitra presented the newest items in big “boxes” where an interior setting was created. As always very inspiring!

Explicit choices are made in the color pallets, upholstery and floor covering that are used. Vitra always manages to create a welcome and home feeling. Even in a booth at a very big fair! My compliments for that.

This year the new items are the Grand Sofà by designer Antonio Citterio and the Softshell Side Chair by the brothers Bouroullec. Also a few new variants of the Mariposa Sofa by Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby and new version of the East River Chair by Hella Jongerius. Last bust not least Vitra adds two new fabrics.

As if that wasn’t enough, there are also some updates of design classics such as the Table Flavigny by Jean Prouvé and the Eames Coffee Table by famous designing partners Charles en Ray Eames.

Not mentioned in the list, but one of my favorite chairs in the collection is the coconut chair. I’m glad that Vitra is picking up this beautiful design more often in the presentations lately.

Overall I sensed a stylish feminine feeling in most of the settings, with colors in ton-sur-ton pallets. One of the boxes had a bit of an odd twist which I like very much.

It felt like a very personal mix with lot’s of unique pieces, but as always combined in a very beautiful “collage” way. Very Vitra! I wonder if you know which box I mean :-) And one box was a bit more manly classic style.

For more info go over to Vitra.

Enjoy!

Last bust not least introduceert Vitra twee nieuwe stoffen.

Diesel Living Pop-up Home | Milan design week 2017 | By C-More

Well… Milan was a blast! I enjoyed every minute of it. Especially this beautiful Diesel Living pop-up home, where I felt at home the minute I walked in.

After a few days of wandering through Milan, design and trend spotting with Desiree of Vosgesparis and Wendy of Beeldsteil [we shared an Airbnb in Zona Tortona…Such fun!! ] we arrived at the Diesel Living Pop-up home. All three of us loved it instantly.

The Diesel Living furniture is a special line by Diesel and Moroso. The two combine very well. Moroso always works with outstanding designers, and stick their head out, showing extraordinary pieces. They dare to do something different. Diesel does that too. Diesel’s style is very well represented by the Rock and Roll feeling, with dark colors, studs, leather and metal, that is used in the cabinets and chairs, but with a fashion feeling mixed within it. Bold, but stylish… My style :-)

The Lighting fixtures are by Diesel Living – Foscarini. Beautiful pieces! The accessories are by Diesel Living-Seletti and last bust not least the kitchen byDiesel Living – Scavolini. All not the worst brands don’t you think!

The used colors and materials are a combination of pink, green, blue, dark browns and black in leather, wood, velvet, cotton-linen combinations, which gives the apartment a rough edge with soft touch. See for your self…. Do you like the Diesel Living pop up home?

Enjoy!

Ps: Did you know that Ynske + I just opened our own C-More Concept Store at HonigComplex Nijmegen NL, where we sell interior design furniture and lifestyle designs directly from the designers we spot and select? We also create a ROOM | LOFT in the store, that we change every three months. Chech it out at C-More Concept Store. Diesel Living

Pop-up Home

Milan design week 2017

Nou … Milan was weer geweldig!

Mijn stijl :-)

De verlichting is van Diesel Living – Foscarini. Mooie stukken!

Chech it out at C-More Concept Store.
