Definitely on top of the list is the new techniques integrated into the kitchen. And these are not only the gadgets but also really useful techniques. For instance, I discovered a new feature which opens the drawers of your kitchen or bathroom cabinet with a foot sensor.
At the big appliances brands, I spotted a lot of new inventions in this area. I particularly liked the Samsung Connected Living app where all your home appliances are connected and presented in the same way on every device. It is more natural and intuitive to use the app if it looks and feels the same on your phone, IPad or even the screen on your refrigerator door. Samsung calls this screen on the refrigerator door the Samsung Family Hub. Here, everything comes together.
Design wise the look and feel of this Family Hub refrigerator is not “my thing”. For me this would need still a bit of design work: I would love a more minimal look, more integrated into the kitchen design. But the techniques I’ll welcome in my home with open arms.
We can definitely learn here from the North Americans, by implementing a bit more conveniences in our homes. Of course, the houses and therefore the kitchens and bathrooms are much smaller here in Europe, but we still can adapt some of the helpful techniques.
Eclectic Luxury
Secondly, I spotted the new trend “Eclectic Luxury” as I‘d like to call it myself. It’s a mix of luxurious styles from different periods of time, combined in one kitchen or bathroom. We in Europe are not common to combine these diversified styles together, but this is a much more natural way of decorating and designing in North America. For me, it was a very refreshing way to see these combinations of colors, tiles, materials, forms and styles.
Normally I wouldn’t select them, but when put together in a good way, it works! Like the kitchens Richard Anuszkiewicz designed for Monogram. The style is very outstanding and bold, in luxury design. Monogram and Richard use the quote: “ Elevate Everything”. That says it all. Chapeau to award-winning Richard who is THE master in this field.
At the Kohler, Ann Sacks and Kallista’s booth I also spotted a few beautiful “Eclectic Luxurious” designed kitchens and bathrooms. The picture of the beautiful green-tiled, marble countertop kitchen is made there. My personal favorite of the whole KBIS show.
Bovenaan de lijst staan de nieuwe technische snufjes die in de keuken worden geïntegreerd. En dit zijn echt niet alleen de gave gadgets maar juist de echt handige technische hoogstandjes. Ik ontdekte bijvoorbeeld een nieuwe functie die de laden van de keuken- of badkamerkast opent met een voetsensor. Hoe handig is dat!
Bij de grote electronica merken zag ik heel veel nieuwe uitvindingen op dit gebied. Ik vond vooral de Samsung Connected Living-app, waarbij op al je devices de app op dezelfde manier wordt gepresenteerd erg interessant. Het ziet er vanzelfsprekender uit en voelt veel intuïtiever, om de app te gebruiken als het overal, zoals op je telefoon, iPad of zelfs het scherm op je koelkastdeur, hetzelfde er uitziet en aanvoelt. Je kunt dus heel veel apparaten in je huis met deze app bedienen. Samsung noemt het scherm op de koelkastdeur trouwens de Samsung Family Hub. Hier komt alles op samen.
Qua design is het uiterlijk van deze Family Hub-koelkast niet echt “mijn ding”. Voor mij zou het design-wise nog wel een beetje aandacht mogen krijgen: ik zou graag een minimalistische look willen, en meer geïntegreerd in het overall keukenontwerp. Maar de techniek zal ik met open armen bij mij thuis ontvangen.
Wij hier in Europa kunnen zeker nog wat leren van de Noord-Amerikanen: Iets meer van deze gemakken in onze huizen implementeren. Natuurlijk zijn de huizen en dus ook de keukens en badkamers hier veel kleiner in Europa, maar we kunnen best wat van deze nuttige technieken inpassen.
Eclectic Luxury
Ook spotte ik de nieuwe trend “Eclectic Luxury” zoals ik het zelf ben gaan noemen. Het is een mix van luxe stijlen uit diverse perioden, gecombineerd in één keuken of badkamer. In Europa zijn we het niet gewend om deze verschillende stijlen samen te brengen, maar het is een veel vanzelfsprekendere manier van decoreren en ontwerpen in Noord-Amerika.
Voor mij was het heel verfrissend om deze combinaties van kleuren, tegels, materialen, vormen en stijlen met andere oven te bekijken. Normaal gesproken zou ik ze niet selecteren, maar als het op een goede manier wordt gecombineerd, werkt het verrassend genoeg wel!
Zoals bv de keukens die Richard Anuszkiewicz ontwierp voor Monogram. De stijl is zeer opvallend en gedurfd, in een zeer luxueuse design uitvoering. Monogram en Richard noemen het: “Elevate Everything”. Dat zegt alles. Chapeau voor Richard die DE master is op dit gebied.
Bij de Kohler, Ann Sacks en Kallista’s stand spotte ik ook een paar prachtige ‘Eclectic Luxurious’ keukens en badkamers. De foto’s van de prachtige keuken met groene tegels, messing kastjes en marmeren aanrechtblad is daar gemaakt. Mijn persoonlijke favoriet van de hele KBIS-show..
Last January I was invited to the IMM cologne fair to visit the STRING booth and see all the new items. And I can tell you, I loved it! String surprised us with a total black wall system presentation, which I found stunningly beautiful! What a statement and what a style choice!
This system would be perfect for my new workspace that I share with some other creatives, in the Honig Complex | Smeltkroes in my hometown Nijmegen NL. Combines with the String Works desk and cabinets, this is my dream workplace!
String system is not new to me and I’m a big fan of the concept. This storage system is totally adjustable to your needs and styling wishes! The String systems works with wall and floor panels, shelves, cabinets and a desk. With these elements, you can design and build your own storage wall for your home or workplace, bedroom and now also bathroom! String has added a new material: The String Plex , suitable for wet and dampy area’s like the bathroom. Very good looking!

String systeem is niet nieuw voor mij en ik ben een grote fan van het concept. Dit opslagsysteem is volledig aan te passen aan jouw indeling en styling wensen! Het String systemen werkt met wand- en vloerdelen, planken, kasten en een bureau. Met deze elementen ontwerpen en bouw je zelf eigen wandkast, opbergprek en werkplek voor huis of werkruimte, slaapkamer en nu ook voor de badkamer! String heeft een nieuw materiaal toegevoegd The String Plex , geschikt voor natte en vochtige ruimtes, zoals de badkamer. Ziet erg goed uit!

AMERIKAANS VAKMANSCHAP MET WOOD MODE
Weet jij, zoals ik, behoorlijk goed wat je mooi vindt en wat je wilt? Dan hou jij ook van Wood Mode. Dit bedrijf maakt kasten in een breed scala aan stijlen en met zeer hoge afwerking, materialen en vakmanschap. Als je op zoek bent naar een minimalistische, moderne kast of keuken: zij kunnen het voor je maken. Of misschien een strakke high-end luxe uitvoering? Wood Mode kan het werk doen! Maar als je van een meer traditioneel ontwerp houdt: ook dat is mogelijk!
Ik kreeg de kans om het werk van Wood Mode met mijn eigen ogen te zien tijdens de KBIS beurs in Las Vegas waar ik BlogtourKBIS was. En ik kan je vertellen: de standaard is echt indrukwekkend hoog, zoals je kunt zien in de eerste collage foto die nam ik op de Wood Mode stand. Het is een volledig aanpasbare opbergkast, in dit geval voor de Man Cave: een sigaren kabinet. Ik denk dat dit best een goed beeld geeft van wat er allemaal mogelijk is bij Wood Mode. De look + feel is alsof het allemaal op maat gemaakt is. Hieronder laat ik nog wat meer ontwerpen van ze zien. Allemaal gemaakt met veel liefde, aandacht en vakmanschap.

Build in the foothills of Las Vegas’ Henderson Nevada, with the newest innovative technology, functionality, materials and design, The New American Home 2016 had sustainability highest on the list. And they succeeded. If you like to get all the info and details about that, you can find all the information at the website of The New American Home. I can only be very happy with the choice of this topic. We all have to think about how we can be more aware of sustainability and green living. So, with this project and such a stunning house, It’s very clear it can be done!
Dreamhouse
We as the BlogtourKBIS group got the chance to see and “feel” the home ourselves. The house has a big open living area, 4 bedrooms and 4,5 baths. Most of the rooms have big glass windows with spectacular views over Las Vegas. Most of the windows open like big sliding doors to the outdoor spaces. The house mixes inside and outside very natural. You feel the flow when walking through the building. You can say, this is a real dream house….
contemporary materials
With the use of beautiful and matching materials, like the bathroom tiles, flooring, wallcoverings and furniture that is very neutral and basic colorwise, they created a home that is not too trendy so that it ages quickly. And that’s a good thing if you think of sustainability. By adding or changing personal items and accessories, you change the whole look and feel. Element Design Build designed the New American Home as a contemporary, multi-generational “desert elegance home.”
Thermador kitchen
In the New American Home the kitchen is open and integrated into the living area, for the ultimate entertaining cooking experience. And there is an outdoor kitchen as well. Actually, almost every room has a personal mini-kitchen area. Wat zo speciaal is aan de Modenus BlogtourKBIS is dat je op hele bijzondere en inspirerende plekken komt!
Zoals The New American Home 2016. Gebouwd in een buitenwijk van Las Vegas: Henderson Nevada, en met de nieuwste innovatieve technologie, functionaliteit, materialen en design. The New American Home 2016 had duurzaamheid hoog op de lijst staan. En dat is gelukt. Als je daar alles over wilt weten, verwijs ik je graag naar de website van The New American Home, waar alle info en de details over de bouw en duurzaamheid te vinden is. Ik kan alleen maar erg zijn blij met deze keuze. We hebben allemaal de taak om na te denken over hoe we meer milieubewust, duurzaam en groen wonen en bouwen. En: met dit project en een echt prachtig huis, is heel duidelijk dat dat kan!
Droomhuis
Wij, als BlogtourKBIS groep, kreeg de kans om het huis ook in het echt te zien en beleven. Het huis heeft een grote open woonkamer, 4 slaapkamers en 4,5 badkamers. De meeste kamers hebben grote ramen met een spectaculair uitzicht over Las Vegas. Het merendeel van de ramen open als grote schuifdeuren naar de buitenruimtes. Het huis mengt binnen en buiten heel natuurlijk. Je voelt de flow, als je door het gebouw loopt. Heel natuurlijk stromen alle ruimtens in elkaar over. Echt een droomhuis.
Moderne materialen
Door het gebruik van mooie en bij elkaar passende materialen, zoals de badkamer tegels, vloeren, wandbekleding en het meubilair, dat is zeer neutraal en basic van kleur is, creëerden ze een huis dat is niet te trendy is, dat het snel veroudert. Het is juist best tijdloos. En dat is een goede zaak als je denkt vanuit duurzaamheid. Door het toevoegen of wijzigen van persoonlijke spullen en accessoires, kun de je gehele look & feel veranderen. Element Design Build ontwierp de New American Home als een hedendaags en voor meerder generaties geschikt “desert elegance” thuis.”
THERMADOR keukens
In de New American Home, is de keuken open en geïntegreerd in de woonkamer, voor de ultieme entertaining kookervaring. En er is ook buitenkeuken. Bijna elke kamer heeft wel een eigen mini-keuken. BlogtourKBIS sponsor Thermador geïmplementeerde alle keukenapparatuur voor koken, de ingebouwde koffiemachines, de ovens, de stoomovens, de wijn koeling en apparaten zoals vaatwassers door het gehele gebouw. Dit extra luxe huis is van alle gamakken voorzien .

Star Burner by Thermador
Persoonlijk heb ik was ik helemaal verrast door hun gepatenteerde Star Burner. De vorm van de ster is niet alleen voor de show. Ik heb nog nooit zoiets gezien!
“De Star Burner creëert een 56% langer omtrek met vlamopeningen, dan een ronde brander van dezelfde grootte. Het resultaat is een brander met superieure vlamverspreiding en minder koude plekken, voor een snellere en meer gelijkmatige verwarming over elk formaat pan.” Zoals Thermador verklaart.
100 Jaar Thermador
Ik denk dat je kunt zeggen dat Thermador echt begrijpt wat de wensen van de hedendaagse en toekomstige thuiskoks en gast vrouwen en mannen zijn. Met een 100 jarig bestaan dit jaar, heeft Thermador de kennis en ervaring in huis, maar ook de mogelijkheid om te groeien en te zich te plaatsen in de toekomst. De producten van Thermador zijn wat je zoekt, bij het ontwerpen van je keuken. Voor de personaliseerbare uitstaling, de hoge kwaliteit, en voor de [semi] professionele keuken en de gehele proffesionele ervaring.
