16 beautiful hotel rooms for The Dylan Hotel Amsterdam.

Remy is one of my favorite interior designers. He is a master at combining pure materials and minimalistic shapes

with “just” a palette of grey’s and browns.

His designs feel very calm to me, very in balance.

For some of you it might be dull, but for me it’s luxury.

In these kind of interiors you just must work with high quality

and contrasting materials and very clear lines.

If you don’t, every flaw will draw all attention to it.

So it looks very simple, but in fact it’s not…

Remy is een van mijn favoriete interieur ontwerpers.

Hij is een meester in het combineren van pure materialen en minimalistische vormen

met ‘slechts’ een palet van grijs en bruin tinten.

Zijn ontwerpen voelen zeer in balans en rustig voor mij.

Voor sommigen van jullie is het misschien saai,

maar voor mij is het pure luxe.

In dit soort interieurs moet je echt werken met een hoge kwaliteit en contrasterende materialen en met zeer duidelijke,

minimalistische lijnen.

Als je dat niet doet, zal elke fout alle aandacht

op zich weten te vestigen.

Dus het ziet er erg simpel, maar dat is het feite niet …

Bekijk de foto’s maar eens met deze informatie in je achterhoofd….

Ik ben nieuwsgierig wat je er van vindt.

Wat is er nou fijner dan eventjes helemaal weg te zijn en je onder te dompelen in rust en wellness? Ik weet zeker dat er mensen zijn, die net als ik de hele dag in touw zijn met hun werk, passie, gezin en alles wat de dag brengt. Ik houd enorm van deze drukte en energie. Ik houd van de steden, het reizen, het ontdekken van nieuwe dingen en de constante stroom van creativiteit. Maar soms moet ik me weer opladen en bijkomen. Voor mij is dat wellness, natuur en rust.

Even helemaal niks.

Onlangs was ik op een plek waar dat perfect kan: de Heerlickheijd van Ermelo. Het enorme pand doet in zijn grootte een beetje aan als een landhuis. Het ligt in de bosrijke omgeving in de noord-Veluwe. Het restaurant van het hotel heeft veel oude elementen in het interieur verwerkt en is heel ruimtelijk door het hoge planfond. Het hotel is daarnaast bezig om alle kamers en gangen te restylen naar een modernere stijl. De kamer waar ik in verbleef heeft deze restyling al ondergaan. Deze contrastrijke combinatie van oud en modern heeft wel wat… Daarnaast is er een heerlijk terras en een enorme tuin. En deze buitenruimte samen met de sauna, het zwembad en de wellness maakt het voor mij zo’n goede plek om op te laden en te relaxen.

Op het programma staan ook speciale detox, wellness en yoga programma’s waar je onder goede begeleiding even helemaal aan jezelf kunt werken en weer goed in energie komt te zitten.

What would be more relaxing than getting away from it all and immerse yourself in wellness?

I’m sure there are people just like me, who work whole week, live with passion, have a family and deal with everything a day brings. I love the fuss and energy. I love the city, traveling, discovering new things and the constant flow of creativity. But sometimes I have to recharge myself and recover. To me that is wellness, nature and tranquility.

Doing absolutely nothing and just relax.

Recently I was in a place where one can do that perfectly : the Heerlickheijd of Ermelo .

The huge building looks a bit like a manor. It’s located in the wooded area of ” Noord Veluwe”. The hotel restaurant has a lot of old interior elements and is very spacious with a high ceiling. They are restyling and redesigning the rooms to a more modern style. The room I stayed in has been restyled to this new look. The contrast between the older details in the restaurant and the modern rooms works for me. There is also a lovely terrace and a huge garden. This outdoor space, combined with a sauna, the pool and spa makes it such a good place for me to recharge and fully relax.

On the program there are special detox-, spa- and yoga programs where you can unwind and also work on your energy under proper supervision.

The other day I spent my weekend in Amsterdam

and stayed in the Coco-Mat room in the Skotel hotel.

I won this stay with a contest on Facebook by Cocomat Amsterdam

and was so happy I could stay in this wonderful room!

You know by now I love Design hotels and city trips.

I also love luxury beds so this was a double treat.

I’m a big fan of Coco-Mat. I sleep in a Coco-Mat bed myself at home

so I can tell from experience that it’s wonderful!

The fact that the bed is made out of natural materials

is a big plus for me.

I also love the bedding and materials they use for the furniture.

This particular room in one of the rooms of Skotel,

a hotel school in Amsterdam and The Hague.

As they say on the Skotel site:

The Skotel is the training and study hotel of Hotelschool The Hague. This special hotel gives you the possibility to stay in a different hotel concept every time you visit. The hotel rooms are decorated by various hotel chains, which gives every room their own style, feeling and experience.

Rooms
In Amsterdam the 20 hotel rooms of the Skotel are situated in the same building as the hotel school. You are welcomed by a dedicated group of hotel and hospitality management students in a completely refurbished building. It is situated in Amsterdam West, just a 15 minute tram ride away from the beautiful and historic centre of Amsterdam. When you feel like combining your stay with us with a dinner, you can ask our hotel management students to either reserve a table in our fine dining restaurant Le Début or enjoy a meal in Les Saveurs.

Each room has a private bathroom with shower, hairdryer and amenities. The rooms are equipped with WiFi, a flat screen TV and coffee/tea making facilities. All rooms are non smoking and are decorated by well-known hotel chains: Accor (Novotel), Starwood (Four Points by Sheraton & ALoft), WestCord, The Student Hotel, Okura, Center Parcs, Van de Wouw, Hampshire and Ramada Apollo. This enables you to stay in a Novotel room one time and the other time in a Okura room.

Laatst was ik een weekendje naar Amsterdam
en logeerde in de Coco-Mat kamer in het Skotel hotel.

Ik had deze overnachting gewonnen met een wedstrijd
op Facebook door Coco-Mat Amsterdam
en was zo blij dat ik in deze prachtige kamer mocht slapen!

Zoals je weet ben ik gek op Design Hotels en stedentrips.
En ik houd ook van luxe bedden, dus dit was een dubbele traktatie.
Ik ben een grote fan van Coco-Mat: ik slaap thuis ook in een bed van Coco-Mat!
Dus ik kan uit ervaring vertellen dat het geweldig is.

Het feit dat het bed is gemaakt van natuurlijke materialen is een groot pluspunt voor mij.
Ik houd ook van het beddengoed en de materialen die zij gebruiken voor de meubels.

Skotel is een opleiding en studie hotel van Hotelschool Den Haag.

De 20 hotelkamers zijn ingericht door verschillende hotelketens,
waardoor elke kamer een eigen stijl, gevoel en ervaring geeft.
Elke kamer heeft een eigen badkamer met douche,
haardroger en toiletartikelen en zijn uitgerust met WiFi,
een flatscreen-tv en koffie / thee faciliteiten.

Alle kamers zijn rookvrij en ingericht door bekende hotelketens :
Accor ( Novotel ) , Starwood ( Four Points by Sheraton & ALoft ) ,
WestCord , The Student Hotel , Okura , Center Parcs ,
Van de Wouw , Hampshire en Ramada Apollo en dus ook een door Coco-Mat.
Dus als je opzoek bent naar een leuk hotel in Amsterdam,
neem dan ook eens een kijkje op de Skotel site!

The new Duvel | nhow Rotterdam

What a nice way to celebrate a new youngster in the family

of the Duvel Moortgat brewery!

The nhow Hotel Rotterdam was the scenery for a big launch party,

where the new Duvel Mini 18 cl bottle was reveiled.

Duvel is a special authentic Belgian beer that is the result

of a slow brewing process of 90 days and is worldwide known

for it’s special soft bitter undertone flavor.

Also the bottle is a character on it’s own.

And now there is a new smaller bottle of 18cl.

The new Duvel mini is a way to meet the beer lovers

who love these special beers,

but find it a bit to much in the normal 33cl bottle.

Because it’s a heavy beer, sometimes you like to have

just a smaller bit of it. Especially at dinner.

Most of the time fine dining is combined with wine,

but more and more often you see chefs combining food with beer.

And that is a very nice combination.

To show us how that can taste,

the chefs from nhow hotel and the zytholoog / beer sommelier

prepared a beer and food combination for us.

We got a full diner and with every course they served a special beer

from the Moortgat brewery to complete the dish.

I can tell you, it tasted very good!

Now I can fully understand why this smaller bottle is launched.

From now on the smaller bottle along with the Duvel mini glass

is available in the better restaurants, hotels and grand cafes.

Wat een leuke manier om de geboorte van een nieuwe jong in de familie van de brouwerij Duvel Moortgat te vieren!

Het nhow Hotel Rotterdam was het decor voor een grote launch party, waar de nieuwe Duvel Mini 18 cl fles werd onthuld.

Duvel is een bijzonder authentiek Belgisch bier met een “slow” brouwproces van 90 dagen.

Duvel staat wereldwijd bekend om zijn speciale zachte bittere ondertoon.

Ook de fles is een unieke verschijning.

En nu is er een nieuw klein flesje van 18cl.

De nieuwe Duvel mini is er voor de liefhebbers van speciaal bieren

die het originele 33 cl flesje net iets te veel van het goede vinden.

Omdat het een zwaar bier is, wil je er soms

gewoon maar een klein beetje van. Vooral tijdens een diner.

Meestal wordt in de restaurants het eten gecombineerd met wijn,

maar je ziet steeds vaker chefs gerechten combineren met bier .

En dat is een zeer mooie combinatie.

Om ons dat te laten zien en proeven

hebben de chefs van nhow hotel en de zytholoog / bier sommelier

een bier en spijs combinatie bereid voor ons.

We kregen een volledig diner voorgeschoteld en bij elke gang werd er een speciaal bier

van brouwerij Moortgat geserveerd om de smaken te accentueren.

Ik kan je vertellen, het smaakte erg goed!

Vandaar dat deze kleinere fles wordt gelanceerd.

Vanaf nu is de kleinere fles samen met het Duvel mini glas

verkrijgbaar in de betere restaurants, hotels en grand cafes.

Wow, wat is er aan de hand in Rotterdam? De stad staat nu zeker weten
bovenaan mijn top 5 City Hot-list. Hoe kan het dat ik al die tijd Rotterdam zo over het hoofd
heb gezien? Waarom wist ik niet dat het zo’n geweldige stad is? Ik bezocht
Rotterdam ongeveer 18 jaar geleden voor het laatst. We logeerden in Hotel New
York dat we als huwelijks kado van vrienden hadden gekregen en ben het daarna eigenlijk
een beetje vergeten….Totdat ik afgelopen
zomer terug kwam voor het North Sea Jazz festival en er was gelijk een
klik! Inmiddels ben ik er steeds vaker te vinden.

Toen ik werd uitgenodigd om bij de
openingsavond en -nacht te zijn van het nhow hotel, in het nieuwe “De Rotterdam“ gebouw, ontworpen door Rem Koolhaas/OMA architecten, kon ik niet
wachten om mijn tas te pakken en voor het hele weekend naar Rotterdam te gaan!
En ben ik blij dat ik gegaan ben! Het nhow hotel is onderdeel van het gebouw,
ontworpen als een verticale stad en met de grootste oppervlakte van Europa. Het
is net af en alle functies moeten zich nog in het grote gebouw gaan vestigen.
Het nhow hotel is als eerste open. Wil je meer over dit concept van Rem
Koolhaas/OMA en “De Rotterdam” weten, kijk dan hier.

Ik ben gelijk toen ik aan kwam in het hotel mijn tas op mijn
kamer gaan zetten en wilde eigenlijk niet meer weg vanwege het spectaculaire
uitzicht. Maar ik ging toch en eenmaal in de bar aangekomen had ik daar geen
spijt van, want ook daar is het uitzicht fantastisch. Je kunt niet stoppen met
kijken.

Het nhow hotel zelf is vol met krachtige contrasten.
Materialen als metaal en beton, gecombineerd met de zichtbare constructie van
het gebouw zorgen voor een industriële uitstraling. In de bar zijn deze ingrediënten
gemixt met velours clubfauteuiltjes, grote ronde zwarte tafels, hoge witte
tafels met design krukken en een puur witte matglazen bar. De kamers hebben een
combinatie van beton, antraciet en witte wanden en gouden stippen op de
transparant glazen badkamerwand. En dan is er het heerlijk knisperend frisse bed
en natuurlijk het spectaculaire uitzicht op de stad en de Erasmusbrug.

Tips:

Je kunt vrij binnenlopen in de lobby, bar en restaurant van het nhow hotel, genieten van een drankje en een hapje terwijl je een kijkje neemt in het hotel en het spectaculaire uitzicht bewondert.
Vraag bij het boeken naar een kamer met city view.
Vraag naar de city highlights aan de receptie van het nhow hotel. Ze geven goede tips en een city map. Het geeft je een goede start bij het ontdekken van Rotterdam.

Wow, what’s happening in Rotterdam? It’s definitely in the
top 5 of my city hotlist now. Did I just
missed this hotspot city all these years? Why didn’t I know it’s such a great town? I visited Rotterdam
about 18 years ago for the last time. We stayed at Hotel New York as a wedding
present from friends and then just
forgot all about it… Then I came back last summer for the North Sea Jazz
festival and stayed for three days, and then it got me! Now I’ve visited this city several times in the past months.

So when I got the invitation to be one of the first guests at
the brand new nhow Hotel in the new “De Rotterdam” building by Rem Koolhaas/OMA
architects, I certainly couldn’t resist, packed my bags and went to Rotterdam
for the whole weekend! Boy I’m I glad I
did. The nhow hotel is part of the building designed by Rem Koolhaas/OMA which is the biggest building
in Europe and is designed as a vertical city. More information about this

When I
arrived at the nhow hotel I went straight to my room to put away my luggage and
almost didn’t want to leave my room because of the spectacular view! But I did
and went to the bar, where the view is also amazing. You can’t take your eyes
of of it.

The nhow hotel
itself is full of powerful contrasts. Materials like metal and concrete
combined with the structure of the building create a very industrial look. In
the bar these ingredients are mixed with velvet seats, big round black tables,
white hightables ,design chairs and
a pure white matt glass bar. The rooms are a combination of concrete, anthracite
and white walls and accents of gold colored dots on the clear glass bathroom
wall. Then there is this nice big and blissfully crisp bed and of course the
spectacular view of the city and the “ Erasmusbrug”

Tips:

You
can freely enter the nhow hotel lobby, bar and restaurant and enjoy a drink or
a bite, along with a look at this brand new hotel and spectacular view

·
Ask
for the city view when booking a room.

·
Ask
for the city highlight at the nhow hotel
front desk. They provide you with
lots of good tips and a city map. This will give you a good start exploring the
city of Rotterdam.
