During my visit to London, I was invited to join the Modenus Blogtour London Designhounds group for a visit at the Fameed Khalique showroom. I didn’t know what to expect, but I never imagined a material heaven like this! It turned out the be the highlight of this trip.

Fameed Hkalique managed to select a beautiful, very special, contemporary, but also classic and luxurious collection of materials.

The international collection contains various fabrics, surface materials, woods, marble, broidery, leather for floors, walls or as fabric, concrete surfaces, contemporary artisan copper fabrics mixed with natural fabrics and so on. And the good thing is that everything is available!

Most of the time, when looking for materials for interior projects, it is difficult to find exactly what you like and what suits the project. The most annoying thing is when you finally have made your choices, the products are not available or have very long delivery time.  Fameed Hkalique makes sure that everything he shows is available within a few weeks and at the right price.

I loved his collection and never seen such a widespread selection in one place. I’ve seen many of the materials at different places like the Milan Fair or Maison et Objet Paris. And definitely seen a lot during my research for projects. But this showroom is outstanding. Such high quality, extraordinary and for all styles. Don’t think ” this is not for me” because Fameed Hkalique and his team are available for you too. Just contact them and see for yourself. The operate worldwide.

Take a look at the pictures I took at the showroom at Kingsroad London, just to give you an idea.

FAMEED KHALIQUE LONDEN

MATERIAAL HEMEL

Decorating With Style | Abigail Ahern | Book Review by C-More interiorblog 01 kopie

Decorating With Style | Abigail Ahern | Book Review by C-More interiorblog

Yes, another book review! Again a book by Abigail Ahern : ” Decorating with Style “. She is the queen of styling and moody colors in my opinion. Although I’m more of a minimalist, I certainly love working with color and styling. Even if you don’t use much color or props in your home, you still need to make it look and feel good.

And that’s where Abigail comes in. She as no other shows in this book how you can learn to create vignettes and styling your decorative items in your home. I think this book is for everyone who loves to be creative and needs some inside information about  “how to…” Even I myself!

I’m an interior designer and love to work with the big picture, how and where to put the walls, furniture, lighting fixtures and to make an interior work well, to feel good and make everything coherent . Even I struggle with the styling sometimes. Thats why I’m convinced an interior and the styling has to grow.

Every now and then you change the items, add some new and kill some of your darlings. Try, play, analyse, change and repeat… that’s the only way you learn, and develop your own style.

But to get a bit on the right track, Abigail reveals a lot of her styling secrets and tips in this book. She helps you to find your style, keeps pushing you to just do it and to make mistakes and learn from them. “Don’t play safe” she says. I agree.

She tells you all about how to combine colors, textiles and patterns, how to be creative with small spaces, where to put your furniture, use texture, storage tips, lighting fixtures, decorative paint…..  I can go on forever. So keep in mind that even if Abigail Ahern’s style is not yours, you can still learn a lot from this book. I think it will be my styling bible for a long time!

So: go grab this book, put it on your Christmas wish-list, ask it for your birthday…. and read it from the from to the back, or as I do, from the back to the front and then again and again, whenever you need some inspiration, courage and a boost in the right direction.

The Decorating with style book by Abigail Ahern is available at Abigails store and for the Dutchies at Bol.com

Enjoy!

BOEKRECENSIE

ABIGAIL AHERN

Geniet!

BEdesign |Deer shelf| metal |charcoal black

BEdesign |Deer shelf | metal |charcoal black

These Deer shelves in charcoal black and white metal or the wooden solid oak, are such a beautiful, minimal and graphic alternative for the old boring bookshelf! I’ve spotted these shelves before, but now I saw them again last Maison Et Objet in Paris. I was really enthusiastic about it. It makes a real eyecatcher on your wall and you can store your books, little plants like succulents and cactus and nice styling elements in it.

Also, now winter is coming here in Europe, it’s a really nice feature for the season. Wouldn’t it be wonderful for X-Mas too? I would love to combine the Deer-shelf with the Lily bows. The bowls are great for lighting candles or store small objects, or even use on the Christmas dinner table for salt, pepper or other spices, or styling. The look like little xx kisses to me. So sweet, but still graphic and with firm lines.

BEdesign has a lot more great designs for your home. Like the Lume Coat Stand, the Lume table leg and also the Wolf bookshelf. Love them all!

BEdesign is founded by sisters Bette and Cilla Eklund from Finnland. Bette is the designer and Cilla the CEO. Together they grew up surrounded by nature and animals and love the outdoor life. The roots in architecture arts and design, mixed with the love for nature, the purity of raw materials, and geometric forms, the designs by Bette are different and timeless.

BEdesign – philosophy

“It is very important that the products we design will bring joy to for years to come. For us, this means creating products that are both aesthetically pleasing and functional. The materials we use are chosen for their durability and suitability to the intended use. Our matter of heart is a well-crafted product that is well thought out down to the smallest details. The journey from idea to product can sometimes be a long one, while the simplest line drawn on a piece of paper can be the beginning of a future classic.”

I didn’t know what to expect when I entered the 4* Design Hotel INK in Amsterdam for a tested-and-tried review. It looked like a small hotel in the middle of the center of Amsterdam, but it turned out to be a big gem, with perfect hideaways, lounge spots and a lovely outdoor space. I was welcomed in the hall by a very friendly staff, dressed in Gstar Ink blue aprons. The entry is filled with giant old-school press letters on the wall. This links back to the history of the hotel building, where in 1904 Dutch newspaper “De Tijd” was established.
